1945 REBUILDING POST-WAR BRITAIN

After the Second World War the company was contracted to aid in the rebuilding of factories, hospitals and government facilities that had suffered war damage. It was an opportunity to showcase the benefits of precast floors and their inherent speedy assembly.

New methods of manufacture, notably pre-stressing, were introduced. Concrete Limited was the first company to commercially exploit this new technology. Lack of structural steel prompted further development of stressing techniques and, in the early 1950s, the Bison Preferred Dimension frame was introduced.
