Invention of the Pneumatic Core

1935 was a key year for Concrete Limited with the innovation of the Pneumatic Core. This revolutionised the manufacture of hollow concrete floors and led to the opening of a new factory in Hounslow, Middlesex. Not only was Concrete Limited now the UK market leader it also held the world’s first patent for this type of flooring.

In the 1930s. the growing popularity of cinema led to the invention of the “L” section unit for theatre balconies. A version of this is still used extensively for grandstand terracing and seating.
