Bison Precast scored another major victory after its pre-cast products were specified for a £20-million stadium development in Rotherham, Yorkshire.
Over 1,150 terrace units plus step blocks, vomitory walls and 150mm deep Hollowcore flooring units were selected for use on Rotherham United Football Club.
The order follows a string of successful stadia projects undertaken by Bison. Bison's pedigree in stadia, from Wembley to Newport Dragons, includes most of the premierships leading grounds.
Contractors Elland Steel specified Bison after the Swadlincote-based manufacturer had previously impressed them with their quality product and service offering.
“The strong working relationship which our contracts team have developed with Elland Steel certainly helped with this order,” comments Russell Harper, Head of Sales and Estimating at Bison Precast. “Through working alongside one another in the past, we have successfully demonstrated that Bison Precast can supply exactly the products required and are more than capable of meeting Elland Steel’s particular levels of quality, delivery and technical support.”
Bison’s ‘L’ shaped terrace units were supplied at a span of eight metres, alongside 652 No. 1200 x 800mm solid concrete step blocks. Bison’s vomitory walls, which ensure the safe movement of spectators between seating and concourse areas, are supported off Bison’s solid concrete landings.
Bob Thorpe, Managing Director at Elland Steel commented: “Working with Bison on previous projects, we have found that their products are ideal for stadium developments such as this.”
“For this particular contract, we required a solution that was not only capable of adhering to Government standards on stadium safety, but also one that provided quick and easy installation.”
