Bison Manufacturing Ltd Supplies Precast Concrete for Flagship Community Scheme in Cullompton
Bison Manufacturing Ltd is supplying Hollowcore units and a precast staircase for a brand new library and community hub in Cullompton, Devon.
Working under contract to main contractors, Pearce Construction (Barnstaple) Ltd, Bison will supply and fix 1145m2 of deep Hollowcore units to the ground, first floor and roof levels, along with precast staircases. Off-site construction will play a major role in the project, helping to achieve the sustainability requirements of the scheme and while facilitating speed of completion.
The £2million scheme will provide the town of Cullompton with a flagship library, which will be four times bigger than the existing one, along with meeting rooms, a cafe and a courtyard garden.
Mark Davis, Project Manager of Pearce Construction Barnstaple, commented: “We chose Bison products at the design stage because of their suitability for projects such as this. The nature of the precast Hollowcore units is such that installation time is cut to a minimum, meaning that the library will be made available to the people of Cullompton as quickly as possible.”
Russell Harper, Head of Sales and Estimating at Bison, commented: “This is an interesting project which is providing Cullompton with a valuable resource to be used for generations to come. Our precast products are very well suited for municipal schemes such as this because of the sound insulation and structural capability of the products.”
The project is scheduled for completion during September 2011.
