Bison establishes new HQ in Swandlicote

Bison Manufacturing Ltd. has recently completed the move of its headquarters into new premises adjacent to its Hollowcore and precast concrete products manufacturing plant at Swadlincote in Derbyshire. The move reflects the new streamlined structure which has been implemented within the business and underlines the fresh approach which now characterises Bison.

“The move from our previous premises at Burton-on-Trent was a very logical one to make,” comments John Rogerson, General Manager for Bison Manufacturing. “We are in the process of adopting LEAN operating techniques right throughout the business and so it makes perfect sense to have our main manufacturing and headquarters operations on the same site.

The Bison manufacturing plant at Swadlincote is one of the most advanced facilities of its type in the UK. “Bringing LEAN techniques into the production processes at Bison will allow us to maximise the efficiency of our operations,” adds John. “This will have obvious benefits in terms of the value and product availability that we offer to our customers, which will be supported by improved quoting procedures that will give a more rapid response to their enquiries.

“We’ve been careful to retain the excellent product quality that’s always been associated with the Bison name, but we’re now working hard to make major changes to the way we operate, and as a result we’re beginning to see a ‘New Bison’ emerging. Going forward we are very keen to listen to our customers and understand their needs, the shape of the ‘New Bison’ company will reflect what we hear.

“Moving our headquarters operation creates much closer ties between our design and estimating operations and the people on our manufacturing team,” he adds. “The improved awareness and communication between the different parts of the business will allow us to be much more flexible and responsive to the needs of our customers.”

Bison also has a second manufacturing plant at Uddingston in Scotland where the Lean manufacturing techniques are also being implemented.
